WORK INJURIES

Texas law with regards to work injuries has changed dramatically over the past ten years and especially so the last two years.  For the first time in Texas history, medical care for work injuries has gone the route of an HMO.  The insurance carriers have now put a stranglehold on the injured worker in Texas.  Texas employers now have a choice of joining a NETWORK or opting to stay OUT OF NETWORK.  For the injured worker this will make all the difference in the world as far as being able to obtain good diagnostic tests and treatment.  So let's take a brief look at these two choices.

IN NETWORK:
The injured worker is at the mercy of the insurance carrier and the employer.  You, the injured worker does NOT have the right to choose which doctor or clinic you can go to for treatment.  Remember that the golden rule of a HMO is to save money.  You as a patient or person is only secondary to this goal.

OUT OF NETWORK:
Those employers who have chosen to not join an HMO Network are allowing their employees the right to choose their own doctor. You, the injured worker HAVE THE RIGHT to choose your own doctor for exams and treatment.  It is therefore very important that you make the proper decision.  The doctor you choose will determine the quality of care you receive.

THE PEOPLE'S DOCTOR

Dr. Scott is known throught the Permian Basin as the "people's doctor" for some good reasons.  Dr. Scott is NOT an insurance doctor.  Dr. Scott does NOT WORK FOR ANY INSURANCE COMPANY.  Therefore, his allegiance is to you, the injured worker and not an insurance company.  Dr. Scott is NOT a company doctor.  Dr. Scott is NOT paid by your company or employer so again, his allegiance is to you, the injured worker.

Dr. Scott has successfully treated injured workers for the past 20 years.  He has defended worker's rights for the past 20 years and will continue to do so.  Is your insurance company denying your work injury?  Have you been placed at MMI too soon?  Were you sent back to work too soon only to be re-injured or fired because you could not perform your regular work duties?  Has your current doctor failed to order diagnostic studies to document the extent of your injury?
